ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The audiometry program was first introduced in our country in 1984 by Prof. Dr. It was established by Erol BELGİN within the body of Hacettepe University Health Services Vocational School. In addition to being able to perform audiological and vestibular evaluation tests, hearing screening tests and noise measurements reliably with the two-year education and training program, ear mold measurement, gain of suitable devices; Our program, from which Audiometry Technicians have gained the skills to measure and adjust output values ​​and settings, has given many graduates since 1986.
In addition to its well-equipped teaching staff, our university has an extremely strong academic structure with the support it receives from the teaching staff of different faculties and colleges. Our students, who benefit from the college's computer laboratory and the clinical environment within the hospital, have the opportunity to follow the technological developments closely.
Hacettepe University SHMYO Audiometry Program provides formal education, and entry to the program is possible with the TYT score type of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) organized by ÖSYM. During the two-year education period, the education program, which consists of intensive theoretical and practical courses spread over four semesters, consists of 120 ECTS, 30 of which are ECTS in each semester. students can find clinical practice opportunity during both applied courses and 30 working days internship they do in their third, third and fourth semesters.

TITLE

Those who complete the program are given an associate degree diploma and the title of Health Technician (Audiometry Technician / Audiometrist). Students who have graduated from the associate degree program in Audiometry and are successful in the Vertical Transfer Job Examination (DGS) can make a vertical transfer to the Audiology, Special Education Teaching, Physics, Physics Engineering and Optical and Acoustic Engineering undergraduate programs within the quota announced that year.

AUDIOMETRY TECHNICIAN

Students who want to enter the audiometry program should know that they are directly related to the patient in this subject related to human health. Patient relations have a special quality and require a meticulous and patient approach. Audiology is a new and rapidly advancing science. Audiometry program student candidates who will work as technical staff in this field should have a high level of professional performance and learning desire. Students attending this program follow a training program consisting of theoretical lessons and practical applications in order to be able to apply hearing tests, which are important and guiding in the diagnosis, treatment and re/habilitation of hearing loss, reliably and accurately.
Within the scope of the Regulation on the Job and Job Definitions of Healthcare Professionals and Other Professionals working in Health Services, which was issued by the Ministry of Health and entered into force on 22 May 2014 by being published in the Official Gazette, the duties and responsibilities of the Audiometry Technician are as follows;

a) Performs pure tone and speech audiometry, immitansmetry tests. He records the information about the hearing loss, its type, level and cooperation of the patient on the test form.
b) Under the supervision of the relevant specialist physician; makes vestibular tests and otoacoustic emission applications.
c) Takes part in hearing screening programs and noise measurements.
ç;) It takes the ear mold measurements for the hearing aid application, the gain of the appropriate devices; and it measures the output values and makes the settings.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR GRADUATES

Our students who graduated from the Audiometry Program, whose main goal is to train a qualified and equipped Audiometry Technician, are employed in various public and private health institutions/organizations, as well as in the Audiology and Ear Nose and Throat Clinics of university/state hospitals, hearing aid/cochlear implant centers and occupational health and safety centers. can do the job. In addition to these, he can also take part in newborn hearing screenings, preschool and school age screening programs and noise measurements and hearing screenings in the industry..

HEARING AND SPEAKING TRAINING UNIT

Hearing Speech Training unit; with hearing and speech impairment; It was established to evaluate the communication skills of infant, child and adult patient groups and to determine and implement appropriate rehabilitation programs.
In our practices, it is important to focus on research and development studies and to develop evaluation scales and different therapy programs used in this field.
in our unit; In cooperation with different disciplines such as Otolaryngology, Audiology, Neurology, and Child Mental Health, detailed evaluation and long-term follow-up and treatment of patients who apply with the complaint of hearing-speech disorder are carried out.
